Kismetta’s father will be joining Kismetta for Mass on Christmas Day. Meanwhile, Anthony has invited Della to attend religious services at the notorious Emmanuel Episcopalian church. Given the separation between Islam and Episcopalianism with Catholicism, it leaves one wondering. Will this issue be like a warm, old-fashioned Christmas movie? Or will it be more like Mad Max… Flurry Road
Pre-Comic
Notes:
If you’re
not up on movies, the issue title is a play on words with Mad Max: Fury Road.
Post-Comic
Notes:
A more
in-depth explanation of the requirements for mixed marriage can be found HERE. You may have noticed that Catholicism and Islam have similar requirements for attending services for another religion. That doesn’t mean they hold the same views on
everything. It means both believe they are true and do not want members to put
their beliefs at risk.
Of course, as a Catholic, I believe the Catholic beliefs to be true. But I think it would be dishonest to misrepresent Islam to make Christianity look better. So, I’ve done my best to portray Islam accurately.
In case it confuses anyone, I’d like to make a point about Rev. Zoe Wood’s sermon. Della is not offended by the concept of social justice (she supports the Catholic version). But she is offended by Rev. Zoe Wood hijacking and replacing Christian teaching to push an agenda.
